5-6 Years Old Children's Understanding Of Maternal Love

Mother's Love is very important for the development of children's life. Researching on the understanding about Mother's Love of 5-6 years old children will help us more deeply into the inner world of children, and re-examine our own behavior, thus have a better understanding and grasp of the education of love.This study is based on children's perspective. The researcher selects two top classes'students in one kindergarten's of Nanjing as the research objects, trying to present their understanding of "Mother's Love" by using qualitative research method. It specifically includes:the definition of love in the eyes of children, the characteristics of "Mother's Love", the emotional experience of "Mother's Love', the role and function of "Mother's Love", "Mother's Love" behavior, children's expectations and expression of "Mother's Love".The researcher finds that children tend to define the meaning of love from the perspective of "being loved". They define the love as a positive emotional experience, a relationship, a close and friendly behavior and the satisfaction of wants. Most of the children regard mother's love, father's love, teacher's love and peers'love as the same. But some children think that "Mother's Love" has its own characteristics.lt reflects a deeper level in the dimension of amount, more liberal in the dimension of behavior and more unconditional in the dimension of motivation. Children's emotional experience of "Mother's Love" is positive. The role and function of "Mother's Love" in the eyes of children is mainly reflected in the emotional function, development function and practical function. The children can feel love from their mother's specific behavior, delighted expression and positive words. The children's expectations of "Mother's love" is mainly manifested in company, buy something for them and life care. Besides, the children also have the consciousness and ability to express love. They mainly through some specific behavior to express their love, for example help to do something, send a gift, kiss and hug etc.On the basis of thinking about children's understanding of "Mother's Love", the researcher puts forward some relevant educational suggestions from the aspects of family, kindergarten and the relationship between children and adults. In the terms of family, parents should give children the high-quality company and jointly head for a productive love; In the kindergarten, we should construct the maternal love's emotional education curriculum in order to play the role of kindergarten; In the relationship between children and adults, we should respect the children's culture and spiritual world.
