| Reading is one of the indispensable basic skills in the study and work along with new curriculum reform in the elementary education in China. The rise of English learning, the demand of reading ability of students learning English as a second language is higher and higher. Cultivating and improving the learners’English reading speed and reading accuracy has become one of the important goals of English teaching. In recent years, extensive body of research from western countries in reading fluency intervention study confirmed that reading acceleration intervention could improve two aspects (reading speed and reading accuracy) of reading fluency for students with English dyslexia. But other research on reading fluency concluded that reading acceleration program can only promote reading speed rather than reading accuracy.There have no conclusion on the transfer effect from acceleration program to r oral reading fluency. Then whether English reading acceleration intervention program can make positive impact on English reading fluency of Chinese native speaking students with dyslexia)? Whether English reading acceleration intervention program have influence on oral reading fluency?To explore the above question, this study choose participants from Grade 5 elementary school students take part in reading acceleration program(RAP) intervention with 12 sessions. Dyslexic students and Normal students were randomly assigned into acceleration group and un-acceleration group, dyslexic students with acceleration were experimental group, other group were control group, the study included two research contents:1、Whether English reading acceleration program(RAP) intervention can improve reading fluency of students with dyslexia; 2、Whether English reading acceleration intervention program(RAP) have transfer effect on oral reading fluency? Research 1 explore RAP’s influence on reading speed and reading accuracy.On reading speed,The results showed that:English reading acceleration intervention program(RAP) has a significant influence of students with dyslexia. On reading accuracy,English reading acceleration intervention program(RAP) has little influence on reading accuracy of students with dyslexia. Study2 explore the transfer effect from RAP to oral reading fluency. The study showed that there had no significantly effect on oral reading fluency(passage reading fluency and word reading fluency) of students with dyslexia.Maybe the emphasis of RAP is silent reading, so it have no transfer effect on oral reading fluency.We can infer that:RAP can promote reading speed of students with dyslexia, but have no influence on reading accuracy. Because RAP emphasize on silent reading, so it had no transfer effect on oral reading fluency. Further study can improve the acceleration program, control the acceleration standard, and add word reading and oral reading intervention. |
