In English-speaking countries,phonics is widely used in primary school education as a pedagogical method that can effectively improve students’ English comprehensive abilities.A large number of studies have shown that phonics is a child-friendly feature and obey the English learning rules.In recent years,many domestic teachers and scholars have also paid attention to the teaching of phonics.They try to use phonics to conduct vocabulary teaching.However,due to lack of proper understanding of phonics teaching and effective teaching methods of phonics,they have encountered many problems in the use of phonics in vocabulary teaching.Therefore,we need to study the current situation of elementary school English teachers in understanding and using phonics.The research of this thesis is based on the research results at home and abroad,based on the theory of cognitive development stage,the theory of the latest development zone,the concept of constructivism,and the characteristics of elementary school English,through questionnaires,interviews,and case studies.The present situation of the application of phonics in English teaching in primary schools has been thoroughly and comprehensively investigated and studied.Investigate whether the teacher has any deficiency in the use of phonics method and combine with the actual teaching to analyze the problems and causes,and put forward constructive suggestions for improvement.This study includes six parts.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly explains the background,the purpose of the research and the research methods and ideas.The second chapter is the literature review.It is mainly with the current domestic and foreign on phonics of the relevant research literature review,put forward the study of primary school English teaching in phonics of the application of the status quo.The third chapter is the research and design,that is,the application of phonics in primary school English teaching.It mainly explains the purpose of questionnaire survey and interview,the sample selection of questionnaire and interview,the design of questionnaire,interview design and data collation.Chapter 4 is the statistics and explanations of the results of the questionnaire and interviews.The fifth chapter analyzes the current situation of the application of phonics in primary school English teaching and the causes of these problems.And for these problems and causes,put forward some solutions to the problem,to provide some feasible recommendations.Chapter 6 summarizes and prospects.This paper summarizes the main conclusions of this study,and puts forward the shortcomings of this study and the prospect of future research.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:First,optimize teaching strategies and improve teaching effectiveness.Teachers should try a variety of teaching strategies to find the most suitable way for students to conduct Phonics.Teachers also should enrich teaching activities,so that students can grasp the ability of natural spelling through vivid and interesting teaching activities.Second,increase on-the-job training to improve the teachers’ ability.Due to the lack of relevant on-the-job training,teachers lack of professional guidance in the teaching of Phonics,the effectiveness of teaching cannot be guaranteed,and affect the learning outcomes of students.At all levels,on-the-job training of teachers should be increased to improve teachers’ ability to apply natural spelling.Third,pay attention to self-education and improve professional standards.Teachers should start from themselves to improve their professional standards constantly,so as to help students to grasp the Phonics.
