As the second language of geography,maps can directly and vividly reflect the distribution law and evolution characteristics of the directors' image.As an important carrier of geography knowledge,it is also an important method of geography learning.Maps are widely used not only in geography,but also in real life.The students' mastery of the map directly affects the students' performance in geography and real life.Map ability is the concentrated reflection about the map to the student,including map reading,analysis chart,graph,drawing,etc.,the map reading ability refers to the students' ability of all aspects of information from the map,and analysis chart,graph,drawing the premise and foundation;Therefore,it plays an important role in the students' reading ability.According to different standards and classification methods,map can be divided into different types.Based on map,to explore the topic of the common senior high school geography teaching map is divided into geographic distribution,geological map,contour map,geographical statistical charts,the geographic landscape and geography cartoon and so on six big class.Students will be influenced by different kinds of map features in the process of reading,showing different reading characteristics and problems.Therefore,to improve students' reading ability,it is necessary to clarify the current students' reading status and reading problems.Due to the limitations of time,practice and other conditions,the author only studies the geographical distribution map,the most common type of map in high school geography teaching.The author has selected six representative geographical distribution maps from the recent ten years' geography examination and grade examination in Shanghai,as a diagnostic test tool for students' reading ability.At the same time,according to the classification structure of the elements information of simple description,direct inference,contact inference and comprehensive inference,the diagnostic scale of geographical distribution map reading ability is prepared.Through the implementation of the diagnostic test and questionnaire,the author found that students who read figure in the geographical distribution of the main problems are: in the process of the students' reading drawing process is influenced by factors of complex,less students the experience of reading,contact the divergent thinking of students is limited and incomplete map information description,studentsof poor geographical basis,students' reading attitude is relatively poor.On this basis,the author also puts forward the corresponding solution measures,mainly includes:improving the students' thinking stability,strengthen the training of reading students,change teachers' teaching attitude,improve students' reading diagram method,the basis of geography of students,the students' learning attitude,etc.Through the research of this topic,I hope to provide some reference for the current map research and the high school map teaching in the method and conclusion.
