After more than hundred years of development,the curriculum of social studies in the United States has a relatively mature curriculum system and has a wide range of influence around the world.While in the process of this development,California history-social science curriculum is particularly representative and influential.Combing the development of the curriculum standards,understanding the latest status of its development,researching and summarizing the basic characteristics and enlightenment contributes to the progress of the history teaching in middle schools,research and development of the social studies curriculum for primary and secondary schools.Through the study of the curriculum standards and the author's personal investigation in California,this paper discusses the historical background of the formulation and development of the curriculum standards for California history-social science,which focuses on the analysis of the latest edition of the syllabus in 2016.After combing the basic thread of its development and the current organizational structure,this paper summarizes its basic characteristics and the enlightenment to the development of the social studies in China.The paper is divided into five chapters:The first chapter introduces the purpose,significance and main content of the research,as well as the relevant research methods and innovations.The second chapter introduces the development background of the California history-social science curriculum standard and combs its development course,which introduces the organization structure of the curriculum standard respectively from the content standard and curriculum guidelines.The third chapter focuses on the introduction of the latest edition of the historysocial science curriculum syllabus in 2016,analyzing the background of its development,the main framework and content of its main body,emphasizing its epochal character.The fourth chapter summarizes the characteristics of the history-social science curriculum standards,and the characteristics of the three parties are analyzed.The fifth chapter discusses the inspiration from the development of the historysocial science curriculum standard to social studies in China,and puts forward its shortcomings and noteworthy points of its existence.Since California has put forward the history-social science curriculum standard in 1987,in the development of thirty years,the curriculum standard has formed a relatively complete curriculum standard system represented by the content standard and the curriculum guideline.And it has been constantly updated and progressed with the development of the times and the development of pedagogic research.During the course of its development,it has formed a complete target system,the disciplinary integration of history as the core and a practical teaching direction,etc.All these have important enlightenment to the development of our social studies.However,we should also analyze it with historical materialism and fully recognize its defects and shortcomings.Meanwhile,we need to critically draw lessons from its strengths,foster strengths and circumvent weaknesses to develop the social study curriculum in our country.
