Empirical Study On Influencing Factors Of Intra-industry Trade Of Agricultural Products Between China And Other BRICs Countries

The BRICs as the world's emerging economies has been the main engine of global economic growth since the global financial crisis, especially the European debt crisis.With the second session of the ministerial meeting of BRICs in agriculture, the BRICs will cooperate more closely on trade of agricultural products. Therefore, studying on the agricultural products trade between C hina and other BRICs countries has significant practical implications.This thesis applies G-L index and GHM methods to measure level and structure of intra- industry trade of agricultural products between C hina and other BRICs countries with the trade data from 2000 to 2013. It shows that the trade of agricultural products between C hina and other BRICs countries mainly takes the form of inter- industry trade and the level of G-L index isn't so significant. Besides, it analyzes the imbalanced growth of agricultural products' trade between the BRICs comprehensively. Then it establishes the gravity model to test on the impact factors to the overall G-L index, and it concludes that the bilateral trade distance, the difference of per capita income and FDI have negative effect on intra-industry trade, while market scale, openness and trade policy have positive effect on it.According to the statistics analysis and empirical conclusions, to further expand economic and trade cooperation between China and other BRICs countries, this thesis puts forwards some suggestions as follows: increasing the input on agriculture to expand market scale of agricultural products, establishing reasonable income distribution system of C hina to decrease the difference of per capita income, increasing FDI from BRICs towards agricultural product, improving technology innovation and strengthening China's differentiation of agricultural product.
