The Effects Of Leader's Narcissism On Firm Growth

In recent years,there are more and more entrepreneurs who have different personalities in multicultural society after our government encourages people to start their own businesses and to make innovations.Entrepreneurial personality traits has important effect on the enterprise growth.Narcissism as a personality which is similar to other important personality traits has include some traits.The qualities of narcissistic leaders has increased and narcissism becomes a popular topic.Narcissists pursue the admiration and sense of identity of others and these psychological needs can be satisfied by obtaining organizational power.Narcissism of leader especially the founder of business can inspire the staff to work hard and stimulate the vitality of enterprise.But narcissistic entrepreneurs may overvalue their ability and make incorrect judgments and the decisions may lead continuing operations to be failed.Narcissistic traits of entrepreneurs will have different influence on organization structure and business performance.This paper makes a breakthrough from the range of leader's traits and study narcissism of entrepreneurs in Chinese Second-board Market.Because of the object and the method which we decide to obtain dates of narcissism,we achieved innovation of study.It built an integrated conceptual model relating narcissism,power of entrepreneur and enterprise growth and relative hypotheses.Through the empirical analysis of 194 firms in Second-board Market,we made use of literature research and empirical analysis to study the relationship between narcissism of entrepreneurs and firm's growth and found three conclusions as following.(1)Narcissism has negative effects on enterprise growth.With control variables influencing the growth as well as narcissism in multivariable linear regression,the relationship between narcissism and growth becomes inverted U-shaped structure in curvilinear regression.It means that rational narcissism will be conducive to enterprise growth.(2)Narcissism affects structural power and ownership power positively.(3)Structural power and the ownership power of entrepreneur's power has intermediary role between narcissism and enterprise growth.According to the research results,enlightenments of the conclusions and suggestions of future research were pointed out at the final.
