Differing from former reseach which foused on the environmental assessment, entry mode or approaches of Chinese enterprises’ FDI in the United States, this paper takes the spatial distribution, industial distribution and the geographic topology of FDI as the main object, and then provides clues to how FDI locations change within certain spatial and industial forms over time.To help domestic enterprises optimize their choices of FDI locations and industries in the United States, further more to provide references for upgrading of domestic industrial structure is the researching significance of this paper.First, this paper describes the present situation of FDI spatially and among industries, and analyses its spatial autocorrelation based on the data from year 2000 to 2014 of Chinese enterprises’ FDI in the United States.GlobalMoran’s I indicates the distribution is close to spatially ramdom and AnselinLocal Moran’s I reveals the spatial heterogeneity of the distribution.Second, the paper constructs regional geopraphical topology, industrial geopraphical topology and neighboring geopraphical topology which are separately based on the correlations of historic data and industrial data of FDI from 45 states and minimal spanning tree algorithm. The results of degree distribution show that three topology networks all yield to random Poisson distribution and Clustering coefficients indicates the existence of communities, and Califonia,Illinois,Tenneesse,New York,Pennsylvania andTexas are found critically in all three networks.Third, the paper cluster the 45 states into different modularity classes in all three networks based on the Louvain algorithm.Strong FDI growth trend has been shown in the states of the top three modularity classes of regional geopraphical topology. The top three modularity classes of industrial geopraphical topology indicate that energy、Real Estate & Hospitality、Health & Biotech are the leading industries in the states from the three classes.Three stages of modularity classifying of neighboring geopraphical topology show that FDI assembling regions have changed from Great Lakes to Southeast and Mideast. At last, due to the basises of the three topology networks, the states clustered in the same modularity class have very close historical, industial or spatially characteristics, and proposals are offered for Chinese enterprises and government to optimize their choices of FDI locations and industries in the United States based on the results.
