In recent years, rapid economic development and improvement of people's living standards continue to place an ever greater demand on the market for agricultural produce year by year, and people keep raising their expectations about the quality of agricultural produce at the same time, all of which bring more challenges to fresh agricultural produce cold chain logistics industry. Moreover, unique characteristics of agricultural produce such as being perishable and being prone to going rotten make its distribution an energy intensive process, which is not environment friendly due to the carbon emission in the distribution process. This is clearly incontradiction with today's trend of developing low-carbon economy and green logistics. Thus,it is of great practical significance to study the problem of improving the logistics cost and reducing the carbon emission in the process of agricultural produce distribution. To solve the problem of fresh agricultural produce logistics distribution, the paper thoroughly investigates the route optimization perspective with minimising the operation cost of logistics companies as the target. In addition to the fixed cost, transportation cost, cargo cost, cooling cost and penalty cost of against time window,The carbon emission cost is also taken into account. With the constraint of vehicle load and time window, the paper builds a model whose objective is to minimize the total of above-mentioned costs in cold chain distribution for fresh agricultural produce. The improved genetic algorithm and the improved ant colony algorithm are used to solve the model. At the end of the paper, the corresponding example is analysed by using the MATLAB software to achieve the algorithm, and to obtain the optimal distribution scheme. The optimal distribution schemes of algorithms are then compared and analyzed. The results show, when we try to solve the problem of the route optimisation in the cold chain logistics distribution process of the fresh agricultural produce with the carbon emission factor being taken into consideration, that the improved genetic algorithm and the improved ant colony algorithm can both obtain better results including reducing thetotal cost of distribution process and reducing carbon emission in the same customer sizes in this paper. The improved ant colony algorithm, however, can obtain better solution in the total cost of distribution and carbon emissions, and therefore it is more suitable to solve the model constructed in this paper.
