An Application Study Of Design For Six Sigma In Vehicle Wire Harness Design

The traditional Six Sigma model-DMAIC is mainly applicable to the existing process improvement,while Design for Six Sigma model is applicable to design of a new product or process.Using Design for Six Sigma in product design can contribute to reduce product design risk,improve design efficiency,and achieve the most profit for enterprises.Chapter 1 makes a brief introduction to company H status and products.Based on customers' requirements,Company H has some difficulties in design.And also the study roadmap on product design is presented.Chapter 2 introduces Six Sigma management,including its origin,characteristics and improvement model-DMAIC,and also the model of Design for Six Sigma-DMADV.After that,the differences and relationship between DMAIC and DMADV are studied.Chapter 3 introduces the importance of Design for Six Sigma,the method and tools of DMADV,and the key to success of Design for Six Sigma in detail.Chapter 4 Focuses on introducing the application of Design for Six Sigma on vehicle wire harness design.Firstly,this chapter describes the project background.Secondly,the thesis applies Design for Six Sigma,which studies the concrete action steps for preparation phase,analyze phase,design phase,and improvement phase on Design for Six Sigma,for vehicle wire harness design project.During this project design,the author applies many tools,collects many data,and deeply studies wire harness design process.Finally,the design team completes the vehicle wire harness design work successfully,and exceeds our customer's requirements.Chapter 5 simply makes a final summary,and looks forward to the future development on design for Six Sigma.As it proved,only if the enterprise really encourages all the staff to take actions according to Design for Six Sigma management method,and builds a good enterprise culture on Design Six Sigma,the enterprise would succeed in the coming market competition.
