| Industrial agglomeration is the process of concentration of various factors of production to specific geographical areas. The study of this phenomenon has been a long time. After the 90s of last century,Krugman,Ellison&others analysed the US manufacturing industry cluster phenomenon, led to the phenomenon of agglomeration research booms. In the study of agglomeration,an important problem is how to measure the level of industrial agglomeration properly,&to explore the appropriate method to measure the level of industrial space agglomeration has always been an important research direction of economists.Although foreign research has made some breakthroughs in the construction of indicators, the indicators used in the static characterization of agglomeration in China are still relatively primitive&rough, especially due to the neglect of the size of the firm&the lack of necessary microcosmic, the results are distorted. On the other h&,as a dynamic process, only static characterization can not explain the characteristics of agglomeration changes, which requires the dynamic decomposition of industrial agglomeration research.Industrial agglomeration is an analysis of the time&spatial evolution of industry. From the mid to late 90s of the 20th century, economists break through the constraints of Marshall’s research framework&challenge the new economic geography theory advocated by Krugman.Based on the database of Chinese industrial enterprises from 1998 to 2009,we calculated the EG index of three administrative area levels,30 double-digit industry,163 three-digit industry&430 four-digit industry. The level of manufacturing agglomeration rose rapidly in 1998-2009,but the rate of increase gradually slowed down&there was a tendency of "redistribution".From the characteristics of the industry cluster point of view, the high level of some industry agglomeration is due to the constraints of natural resources,&other industries may be associated with the transport costs&other factors.Furthermore,we have decomposed the EG index, studied the change of agglomeration trend from the perspective of dynamic evolution,&linked with the microscopic factors such as age&attributes of enterprises. The study finds that although the r&om effect also contributes to the improvement of manufacturing industry concentration in a certain extent, the process of evolution of the manufacturing space in China still depends on the historical factors. The employment population is mature to the old industrial center The concentration of enterprises is always the most important factor to promote the rise of industrial agglomeration,&the slowdown of the agglomeration trend may be due to the rapid decay of the mean value divergence effect in the entering stage. In addition, the state-owned enterprise attributes tend to contribute less than the non-This may be related to the many non-market factors that SOEs bear. |
