In recent years, with the development of economic globalization and information technology, information products play a more and more important role in the social economy. In the face of huge profit brought by information products, more and more investors choose to join information products industry to earn more money. This paper is based on the properties of information goods and behaviors of consumers and vendors. We discuss the time-grouping pricing strategy of information goods. This paper mainly divided into two parts, the first one study the monopoly software market with analytic method, and the second part consider the duopoly software market with numerical simulation method. In this paper the main research contents and innovation are as shown below:(1)We introduce the concept of information products and its economic characteristics.A comprehensive review is given on subscription pricing, perpetual licensing,Cournot model and versioning strategy.(2)We discuss the optional strategy of time-grouping pricing of information goods.First,we consider a linear discount function;second,we study the optional strategy of updating slowly information goods, and give a concave function;third,a convex function is given to develop updating fast information goods.(3)We make a research on the duopoly information goods market with numerical simulation method in three different discount functions. And we adopt Cournot model to find the final equilibrium. At the same time,we explain why Bertrand model is not adopted in this paper. We make contributions on both theory and practice. In theory,we first put forward a new pricing strategy: time-grouping pricing strategy, and consumers preference on licensing duration is given in our paper. In practice,we study three different discount functions based on information updating speed, which help different software vendors make optional pricing strategy.
