Research On The Relationship Among Environmental Uncertainty,Strategic Flexibility And Firm Performance

The process of economic globalization has promoted the economic infiltration and correlation between different countries and regions,and has changed the global economic situation to a certain extent.Economic globalization has promoted the deep cooperation of transnational and trans-regional enterprises around the world,and brought great impetus to global trade,and also caused significant uncertainty about the external economic environment of enterprises.Economic globalization has brought more opportunities and possibilities on the one hand,but the attendant risks and challenges are even more daunting.As an emerging economic power,China is in the crucial period of the comprehensive transformation from the planned economy to the market economy.The external economic environment has become more volatile and changeable,which put forward higher requirements and challenges to Chinese enterprises to deal with the new opportunities and challenges brought by environmental uncertainty.In this thesis,both the theoretical research and the empirical research methods are used.In the first,the thesis makes the theoretical research of the strategic flexibility,the enterprise performance and the environmental uncertainty respectively.Combined with the first part research,in the second part,the thesis make the further analysis about the relationships among strategic flexibility,enterprise performance and environmental uncertainty,build a conceptual model and put forward the related hypothesis.Thirdly,collecting relevant data and making the empirical research.Finally,based on the empirical results,the thesis verifies the relevant assumptions,summarizes the results of empirical research and put forward constructive suggestions for enterprises to improve business performance.This thesis selects the listed software and information technology service companies from the main board and the SME board in Shanghai and Shenzhen as a whole.By using three years dates from 2012 to 2014,the thesis uses factor analysis,multivariate linear regression analysis method to test the hypotheses and conclusions.The results show that there is a positive correlation between resource flexibility and firm performance,and this also applies to competence flexibility and firm performance.Environmental uncertainty makes enhancement effect on the relationship between strategic flexibility and business performance,that is to say the more uncertainty the external environment is,the better performance the company with more flexible strategy will make by adapting,using and creating the changes.
