This research examines how fast the oil discovery in Ghana is leading the country to Dutch disease syndrome and whether the policies put in place will help the country avoid the occurrence of Dutch disease. To avoid this, the study revealed and advocated for a strong institutional policy framework and strict implementation. The absence of strong and sound policy institutions causes poor performance and neglect of other viable sectors which will result in resource curse symptom.Oil exploration in Ghana has not fully plunged the economy into Dutch disease but there exist the manifestation of early symptoms such as;decline in the agricultural sector's contribution to GDP,increase in importation and decrease in exportation of other tradable commodities and weak institutional policies. This research thesis calls for a circumspective effort to avoid the occurrence of Dutch disease in Ghana by borrowing leaf from other resource rich countries who through strict policy implementation avoided it in their countries.
