Egypt owns a special position in the history of the Byzantine Empire. On the economic level,it is Byzantium's Big barn, also an important source for taxes and it makes a great contribution to the empire's financial incomes. On the religious level,it has lots of connection with the development of the early Christianity.Meanwhile,Egypt is also the birthplace of the religious conflicts in the Egypt in which the religious conflicts are more or less related with Egypt. From the ruling periods of Justinian I(527-565)to that of Heraclius I(610-641),the Empire has to no strength supporting a vast territory at both home and abroad, and it is just a matter of time for the end of the Empire's ruling in Egypt. On one hand, the financial crisis that started from the Justinian I to Heraclius I,forced the empire to make some adjustments in the Tax Policies in order to increase financial income. The empire obtains an excessive wealth from Egypt by the means of increasing Tax Payment, putting management and control in the Economy of Egypt and so on.However,Egypt never gets any substantial support and compensation in return. To the Egyptians, this has become a heavy burden and narrowing their living space. On the other hand,Egypt itself has witnessed many changes in its economy during this period.First of all,the natural disasters, for example, the breakout of plagues, caused a large number of people's death and the loss of properties, which is accompanied by a widespread famine, hence to tear down the economic foundation of the whole Egypt.Secondly, the great development of great landlords in Egypt, including the church landlords and the secular landlords, during this period, has exerted a great influence on the development of Egypt's economy. The lords paid more attention to the possession of wealth and status, and they became an important force that led Egypt's economy, hence to accelerate the process of the merges and acquisition of the land in Egypt. It also led to the bankruptcy of the more poorer lords and peasants, which shakes the economy of Egypt. To conclude with, before Arabians took over Egypt, the economy of Egypt is on the decline, even has reached the edge of breaking down.It seriously affected the Egyptians'loyalty to the empire. So that they are not against the great change that Egypt will face in the 640s.From what is written above, the author draws a conclusion that the economic factor ranks as the key one that led to the empire's losing control in Egypt.
