The Development Trend Of Regional Economic Integration And The FTA Strategy Of China

Since the 1990 s,under the background of accelerated economic globalization and the slow progress of multilateral trade negotiations,regional economic cooperation develops vigorously around the world.Under the influence of the trade protectionism triggered by the global financial crisis,regional economic integration organizations began to appear in all regions of the world,more countries have begun to consider it as important as or even more priority to WTO,and to develop a national strategy.Under the background of the rapid development of regional economic integration,China is fully aware of the importance and urgency of participating regional economic and has taken a series of actions.After a few years,the construction of China's FTA has achieved leapfrog development.However,China's FTA rules are still too low compared to the new generation.Therefore,it is significant to promote the development of China's participation in regional economic integration in the light of the development trend of international regional integration and the selection of FTA strategies in line with the world economic situation,its own development characteristics and national conditions.Firstly,this dissertation summarizes the background and significance of the study,it uses method of theoretical analysis to sort out the relevant literatures on regional economic integration.Secondly,combining with the data and actual development of regional economic integration,this paper studies and analyzes the current development trend of global regional economic integration,further clarifies the external environment of China's FTA construction,and confirms the dominant position of the FTA construction in development of the regional economic integration.Thirdly,this paper analyzes the present situation and main features of China's free trade area,and analyzes the benefits brought by three representative free trade areas,China-ASEAN,China-Chile,China-New Zealand's,from the aspects of trade and investment,conclude the problems which China's free trade area is facing: Lack of completed and clear FTA development road map,FTA construction is still at a low level,the scope of the relevant partners and the quality should be improved,the relevant supporting system has not yet formed and other issues.Finally,combining theoretical analysis with practical analysis,it is concluded that China needs to further clarify and rationalize its FTA strategy,build a free trade network with its own core;further improve the construction level of the FTA;improve the FTA partners selection criteria;actively improve the construction of its supporting system to better adapt to the international economic situation,faster integration into the rapid development wave of international regional economic integration.
