Order picking is one of the main process of warehouse. In a B2 C e-commerce context, customer orders are becoming dispersed, numerous, diverse with high service level expectations. Then, how to finish the order picking rapidly without delay, and balance the work of the order pickers is difficult, and reasonable order batching has great significance to solve these difficulties. At the same time, how the orders are batched and how the batches are assigned to order pickers can affect the order delay and the workload of the order pickers. Therefore, this paper selects the B2 C distribution center, optimizes the order batching, considering the practical factors that one more order pickers and the order due date. The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, this paper researches the problems of order picking optimization in B2 C e-commerce distribution from the whole view.Through the further studying of uniqueness of B2 C e-commerce order, and the problems existed in order picking practical,we obtain the key issues which should be solved imminently. Then according to a comprehensive study of the routing optimization, order batching strategy and combining the feature of B2 C e-commerce order, proposes the research approach and technical route.Secondly, researching order batch optimization. This paper fully considers the practical situation that one more order pickers and the order due date, and gives a mathematical model of the order batching problem, the objective of this model is to minimize the sum of the travel time, the difference of the order picker's workload, and maximize the sum of the number of the order finished before due date. Then,by uses of Variable Neighborhood Search algorithm to solve this model. Finally, this paper applies the conclusion to the distribution of W company showing that the algorithm ran stably and the model was practical and effective.
