Research On The Influence Of Family Life Cycle On Household Consumption

Because of the implementation of family planning and fertility in China,the improvement of urbanization level and the intensification of population mobility,the unique family form of our country is gradually differentiated;the family structure is miniaturized and flattened.The stage and content of the family life cycle of our country have changed.With the development of the family life cycle,the object of household consumption will show structural changes.Based on the background of the change of family in our country,this paper analyzes the family consumption of family life cycle and the relationship between family life cycle and family consumption level and consumption structure.Firstly,based on the traditional family life cycle,this paper constructs the family life cycle that adapts to the Chinese environment.According to the family structure,the marital status,the children's situation(whether there are children,whether their children leave home)and the age of the family members,CFPS data are subjected to matching.Secondly,from the two aspects of consumption level and consumption structure,analyze the current state of consumption at all stages of the family life cycle of urban and rural families.The results show that in the consumption level,the trend of the various stages of the family life cycle is basically the same.With the development of the family,the overall level of household consumption was inverted "U" type.The difference is that when the new family has just been established,the growth of urban families is larger,it's the peak of household consumption.In the consumption structure,the family focuses on clothing and cultural and entertainment consumption when is established and no birth,focuses on the developmental consumption and reduce the enjoyable consumption.When the family is in the late stages of development,health care consumption becomes a key expense item for the family.The changes in the consumption structure of urban and rural households are basically the same,but the demand about developmental consumption and enjoyable consumption of rural households is not as strong as that of urban households.Finally,Multivariate linear regression model was used to test the relationship between family life cycle and household consumption.The empirical results show that the family life cycle has a significant explanatory effect on the total household consumption,the per capita consumption and the proportion of that eight consumption expenditure.And the impact of the family life cycle on the level of household consumption and consumption structure presents different characteristics.
