Research On The Structural Characteristics And Evolvement Of World Container Shipping Network

With the progress of science&technology and the rapid economic and social development,ocean trade has made great achievements,,shipping became the main mode of transportation by the advantages of large capacity,low price,long distance.Container shipping is an important component of shipping.The operation mode of liner company makes the container transportation get rapid development,but also brings the change of the space structure of traditional transportation mode,which formed the sea container network of the port as node and the line as edge.At present,many researchers have studied the theory of complex networks,but few researches have been applied this knowledge to actual network,especially in shipping container system.Through the complex network-related theoretical knowledge and research methods,we can study the topological characteristics of the world's container shipping network,analyze the basic characteristics of the world's container shipping system,and obtain the evolution rule of the network.In this thesis,complex network theory method and research are used for the research of world shipping network topology and evolution.Firstly,based on research status,decide to use complex network theory and method to study the global container network.Secondly,elaborates the development of container transportation stage and analyzes of the container transportation characteristics,and briefly introduces the two components of the container network.Thirdly,constructed the actual global sea container network according to the data of the top 100 shipping companies in the world,then studies the structural characteristics of the network in detail.Fourthly,studies on the evolution of the container shipping network with BBV model,and then summaries the characteristics of the evolution network.Fifthly,according to the comparison results of two networks,puts forward some measures to improve the container network from the point of view of the complex network.This paper validates the applicability of complex network theory and method to study the structural characteristics of world container shipping network,and found that the container shipping network with small-world and scale-free properties.It is concluded that the weighted BBV model can well reflect the conclusion of the evolution process of the world container shipping network.
