Interpretation Of The Communication Of Xi'an International Youth Hostel Space

Xi'an International Youth Hostel is taken as the research object for this paper.The international youth hostel was born in Germany in 1912.As a non-profit organization,the international youth hostel advocate 'cultural exchange and social responsibility,environmental protection and love nature,simple and high quality life,self-help,and help others'.It is the world's largest accommodation chain.The first International Youth Hostel in China was settled in Guangdong in 1999.As of January 1,2017,a total of 300 Chinese youth hostels were registered in the international youth hostel federation(excluding Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan regions),including seven in Shaanxi province and five of them in Xi'an.These five international youth hostels are 'The seven sages youth hostel','Xiangzimen youth hostel',' Xi'an your tour hostelling international','Ancient city youth hostel' and 'seven sages bell tower youth hostel'.The papers retrieved by "youth hostel" from CNKI are analyzed.It could be found that the research of International Hostel was focused on tourism management,building science and engineering,related economy,which were lack of first-hand information as well.From the point of view of Journalism and communication,there is little focus on the International Youth Hostel and its space.As a medium,space itself transmits information by symbols.The space of the Xi'an international youth hostel is interpreted in this paper based on the encoding and decoding theory of Hoare,from three aspects including geographical background,building exterior and interior public space.The cultural significance and influence on the youth life philosophy are trying to find from the international youth hostel space,which are the conflict between the nature of the consumerism and the concept of international youth hostel,and international youth hostel becomes the self-construction tools for young people.The International Youth Hostel space culture has attracted more and more attention.The youth hostel becomes a symbol for young Backpackers and becomes more and more important during the travel.Xi'an International Youth Hostel has its own distinctive features.A strong historical flavor is reflected from the exterior to the interior of the public space.Compared to other place,Xi'an International Youth Hostel is more international,that the ratio of foreign tourists and domestic tourists are close to 1:1.As a case study of culture,this study will not to put forward ideas or quantitative summary.The main target is to give a full range of record and display of this cultural phenomena,which is helpful for a better understanding of the younger generation by reflecting the changes in the process of the times,the values of young people,the way of thinking and attitude towards life from a side view.At the same time,it provides a primary reference in practice for future development of the International Youth Hostel in Xi'an.
