On The Empirical Research Method Of Philip C. C. Huang’s Study On Rural Economy

Philip C.C.Huang is renowned at home and abroad as a research expert of modern social history,economic history and legal history.In the field of rural economic research,He not only discovered the paradox phenomena and put forward relevant theories and concepts,but also created an empirical research method,i.e.“proceeding from empirical evidence,thus refining the concept,and then back to the empirical evidence”.This research method embodies the research step as “From the paradox phenomena to the qualitative investigation,then to the dialogue of theories,then to the creation of theory”,it also embodies the theoretical solicitude of establishing the academic theory which is in conformity with Chinese reality and can keep pace with western theories.This paper studies Huang’s empirical research method.Concretely speaking,this paper mainly excavates the empirical research method behind Huang’s research achievements.The research content in this paper can be divided into three parts,i.e.the specific connotation of Huang’s empirical research method,the theoretical reasons that make Huang put forward his method,and the theoretical significance of Huang’s method.In respect of argument logic of this paper,there are four constituents that are logically relevant.First,the author takes “Huang’s research achievements of his study on rural economy” as the topic and researches the “Paradox phenomena” and “Creation of theory”,which provides the basis for further research on Huang’s empirical research method.Second,research is made on topic of “Huang’s research method of his study on rural economy”.The author mainly studies the specific application of Huang’s empirical research method in his research on rural economy.Based on the researches of “Paradox phenomena” and “Creation of theory” mentioned above,the research method of “qualitative research” as well as “dialogue with western theories” is specifically discussed.Third,the author studies the subject of “Huang’s value orientation of China-centered approach and the raise of his empirical research method”,mainly revealing the theoretical reasons of Huang’s putting forward empirical research method based on the value orientation of “China-centered approach”.Fourth,the author takes “Review of the empirical research method of Huang’s study on rural economy” as the topic,and mainly discusses the theoretical significance of Huang’s empirical research method.
