With the policy of one belt one road,more and more Chinese contractors go abroad.However,due to the Chinese contractors are not familiar with local laws and regulations,project failure gradually becomes one of the main problems that the construction industry enterprises are facing now.How to promote the learning behavior of construction practitioners has become the thing that construction industry enterprises concern.Learning from the project failure is one of the effective ways to avoid the project failure.But the study of the project failure learning mechanism is relatively less.From the perspective of construal level theory(CLT),this article studied the construction project failure in the field of psychological distance and the influence on construction practitioners' willingness to learn.We used empirical method to explore the psychological distance of project failure and the learning intention of construction practitioners.Firstly,designing the questionnaire.Using existing measurement scales of psychological distance,willingness to learn,and then improving the scales through discussion and preliminary experimental study.Secondly,collecting data.In the form of face to face or email link,we gave the questionnaires to the construction industry practitioners to collect data.Thirdly,analyzing data.After eliminating the invalid questionnaire,analysis software SPSS 19.0 regression method was employed to analyze the collected data.The results indicate that the project failure experience of construction practitioners will affect the psychological distance of project failure,as well as affect their willingness to learn.Considering the influence of control variables,thus gender,age,work experience,we found the psychological distance of project failure plays a mediating role between the study relationship.From the perspective of constructing level theory(CLT),the study clearly describes how the construction practitioners perceive project failure and how such perceptions affect their willingness to learn.The conclusion has provided certain theoretical significance to the construction industry,for promoting the learning intention of construction practitioners.
