The operation of commercial banks is closely related to economic development and economic security.The level of bank efficiency has an important impact on the national economic system and financial stability.As China's economy has stepped into a new normal,economic development has demanded more quality and more efficiency,and bank operations have also placed greater emphasis on bank efficiency.The level of bank efficiency is influenced by many factors such as business decision-making,profitability,the risk level and the business environment of the bank.In the environment where the financial system is increasingly perfect and the degree of marketization is constantly increasing,The executive team,which has an important influence on the bank's decision-making,plays an increasingly prominent role in the operation and development of the bank and attracts more and more people's attention.The executive team is the maker and executor of the bank's business strategy.The decision-making efficiency and execution efficiency of the executive team have a significant impact on the overall efficiency of the commercial bank.The executives with different background characteristics have very obvious differences in the way of cognition,understanding and the style of doing things.The existence of such differences forms different groups within the team.Groups have different opinions on the bank's operation and development,and also have differences in the perception and endurance of risks.Therefore,the heterogeneity of executive background characteristics affects the team's cognitive ability,risk perception and affordability,which affects the team's decision-making efficiency and accuracy,and it will have a significant impact on bank efficiency.Based on the above considerations,this study,through a combination of theoretical analysis and empirical analysis,takes the data of 16 listed commercial banks in China from 2007 to 2016 as samples to find out the relationship among the heterogeneity of Top management team,risk-taking and bank efficiency.The research structure of this research is as follows:First,we review and summarize previous studies and elaborate the theories involved in this study;Secondly,we use DEA to measure the bank's efficiency;Thirdly,Tobit model is used to test the relationship between the background heterogeneity of the executive team,risk-taking and bank efficiency.Finally,the conclusion is concluded according to the empirical results and the corresponding countermeasures will be put forward.This study attempts to answer the following questions:Does the background heterogeneity of the executive team have an impact on bank efficiency?How to affect?In the relationship between the two,is there a regulatory role of bank risk-taking?How does the regulatory role of risk affect the relationship between the two?What is the impact?This research draws the following conclusions:There is a risk-adjusted effect in the relationship between the heterogeneity of seniority team's gender,age and education level and the bank's efficiency,while there is no risk-adjusted effect in the relationship between the heterogeneity of career experience and the bank's efficiency.And there is a mutual restraint effect between the bank's risk-taking and the heterogeneity of the executive background characteristics.The impact of the heterogeneity of executive background heterogeneity on bank efficiency decreases with the increase of bank risk appetite.The impact of bank risk appetite on bank efficiency also decreases with the increase of heterogeneity of background characteristics of executive team.The direct correlation between gender,age heterogeneity and bank efficiency was not significant,heterogeneity of education level and heterogeneity of career experience had significant positive correlation with bank efficiency.According to the conclusion,it is suggested that the formation of senior management team should pay attention to the heterogeneity of team background characteristics,and should pay more attention to the effect of bank risk-taking in improving bank efficiency.
