With the continuous development of the market economy and the intensification of industrial competition,the innovation of science and technology has become the mainstream of the world.If a country wants to gain a competitive advantage and maintain a long-term development,it needs to improve its ability to innovate.At present,our country is also actively constructing "innovative country",strongly supporting enterprise innovation,and small and medium-sized innovation enterprises are also the backbone of China's independent innovation and emerging industries.There are many factors that influence the technological innovation of enterprises,and the importance of executives as strategic decision-makers and main decision-makers in business activities is self-evident to the R&D innovation of enterprises.This paper selects the SME Board Listed Companies in 2016 as the research object,and studies the impact of TMT's background characteristics on their technological innovation.Based on the consideration of senior members of age and gender,education level,political background and other basic demographic variables,further adding to external factors,comprehensive analysis,this paper tests the moderating effect of executive compensation incentive and corporate property rights,industry differences and regional economic development level of the four situational variables.The results show that:(1)The size of the executive team,senior members of the average level of education,senior members of overseas background and R&D background play a significant role in promoting enterprise technology innovation;The proportion of members with political background in the executive team has a negative impact on the technological innovation of the enterprise;The average age of senior executives and the proportion of female executives don't have a significant impact on enterprise technological innovation.(2)Executive compensation incentive plays a significant positive moderating role in the relationship between the four characteristic variables of top management team size,age,education level,research background of executive members and enterprise technological innovation.(3)The nature of property rights plays a negative role in the relationship between TMT size,education level,senior executives' overseas backgrounds,R&D backgrounds and technological innovation.(4)Industry differences will significantly affect the relationship between the background characteristics of the executive team and the technological innovation of the enterprise.(5)The level of regional economic development has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between top management team size,executive a age,education level,R&D background and technological innovation,but negatively moderates the impact of the proportion of female executives on technological innovation.Finally,according to the characteristics and empirical conclusions of small and medium-sized board listed companies,this paper puts forward relevant suggestions such as building a top management team,emphasizing executive ,incentives,and actively utilizing external policy conditions and economic environment conducive to development and innovation.
