River habitat is an important channel for material circulation, energy flow and information transmission in the biosphere, and it also has various ecological functions such as water conservation, climate regulation, and biodiversity conservation. With the rapid development of industrialization and urbanization, river habitats are constantly affected by human activities, resulting in water pollution, destruction of river habitats, and ultimately leading to a series of environmental problems such as the loss of natural river functions and extinction of biological species. Therefore, the research on river habitat quality assessment has been paid widely attention. The assessment of river habitats can potentially represent the health of river ecosystems, and it is of great significance in modern river ecological restoration and river management. At present, there are many river habitat evaluation methods as well as assessment index system that has been selected. The evaluation criteria also use graded scoring methods and lack of quantized indicators. Therefore,on the basis of extensive documents research, the paper constructed a river habitat quality assessment index system that includes 20 indicators in terms of river hydrology, river morphology, riparian zone status, river water quality, and river biology. The quantifiable data of the system can be standardized to eliminate the differences between the different dimensions so that they have measurable and comparable values. The paper chose the rivers in the Qingyihe Basin as an empirical research object to evaluate and analyze the river habitat quality. The quality of river habitats was compared and analyzed from different locations in upstream, middle stream and downstream,as well as main stream and tributaries. The paper used one-way analysis of variance and correlation analysis to study the impact of different types of land use on river habitat quality, and further analyzed the correlation between land use patterns and habitat quality in different scale buffer zones. The results show that the overall status of river habitat quality in the Qingyihe Basin is in general condition. In the indicators, the river biology is poor and becomes the limiting factor of the basin’s habitat quality. The habitat quality in downstream is best while the upstream is worst, and there is significant difference(P<0.05)in different locations. The habitat quality of the tributaries of the river basin was better than that of the main stream and the difference was significant(P<0.05).Under different types of land use,the habitat quality of the river decreases in an order of forest land, rural area, farmland and town, and the difference is extremely significant.Among the secondary indicators, the difference in river hydrology, riparian conditions, river water quality, and river biology are significant.Among the third indicators, there are significant differences in indicators such as hydraulic engineering disturbance, bank stability, river bank protection, buffer habitat type,DO,COD,aquatic plant diversity index and aquatic plant richness. The response of habitat quality to scales of land use patterns shows that, the urban and river habitat quality indicators are negatively correlated, with the highest and significant correlation.Rural areas, farmland and forest lands are positively correlated with the habitat quality index.Towns and forest land have the highest correlation within the 500m buffer zone. Moreover,in the secondary indicators, towns have negative and significant effects on each index. There is a significant positive correlation between forest land and river water quality as well as river biology at various scales. The paper also proposes targeted suggestions for improving the status and existing problems of habitat quality in the Qingyihe Basin, such as take control of the high-intensity development of land, emphasize the 500m key buffers to achieve a reasonable allocation of landscape patterns in the area.On the one hand, this study helps to supplement, deepen, and improve the developing river habitat quality assessment theory system. On the other hand,it can also provide an important theoretical basis for river habitat management, ecological restoration in the region, and water and land resources planning and protection in the whole river...
