An Empirical Study Of The Impact Of Cloud Computing Investment On Industry Performance

From the perspective of industrial engineering,information system can help enterprises improve efficiency,reduce costs,improve quality and make quick decisions.Currently,the cloud computing technology has been widely used in the enterprise informationization,and the actual effect of cloud computing investment is not clear.Therefore,whether the cloud computing investment will affect the performance of the enterprise has become the key research topic of the scholars.Most scholars research from the enterprise dimension,but the conclusion is not consistent,and because of overlooking the spillover effect of cloud computing,it may lead to inaccurate conclusions.In addition,different industry environment will also affect the profit of cloud computing investment,so we need further research.Based on the above background,this paper studies from the industry dimension,mainly including two aspects:on the one hand,it studies whether the cloud computing investment has an impact on the industry performance;on the other hand,it studies the role of industry competitiveness on the relationship between cloud computing and industry performance under different industry environment.First of all,combing the existing enterprise informationization performance evaluation theory and the characteristics of cloud computing,and considering the impact of industry competitiveness according to the theory of industrial organization,establish industry performance impact model of cloud computing investment.Then,put forward the hypothesis of the influence of cloud computing investment on industry profit performance,operation performance,debt service performance and growth performance,as well as the hypothesis of the moderater role of industry competitiveness.Finally,through the sample screening,this paper selects 12 sample industries in the 2010-2015 year investment cloud computing data,using the mixed cross section data analysis method,the empirical research conclusion is summarized as follows:The conclusions are as follows:(1)Investment in cloud computing has a significant positive impact on industry profit performance,operational performance,debt performance and growth performance.The higher the investment of cloud computing is,the better the industry performance is.(2)Industry competitiveness will affect the relationship between investment cloud computing and industry performance.When the industry competitiveness is higher,the industry profit performance,operation performance and growth performance of cloud computing are higher.This paper has a certain theoretical and practical significance to study the impact of cloud computing investment on industry performance.In theory,there are few papers on the impact of cloud computing investment on enterprise performance.This paper enriches the empirical research in this area,and puts forward the role of industry competitiveness on the performance of cloud computing,and provides reference for future academic research.In practice,the research of this paper makes investment decisions for enterprises and government for cloud computing,and helps enterprises to understand the moderating effect of industry factors on the relationship between investment and performance in cloud computing.
