It is an indisputable fact that the resources and resources for human survival such as air and water are becoming scarcer and scarcer.Whether the shortage of external resources will affect employees' choice of time and money reward incentive preferences, although this exploration has important theoretical value and practical significance, but the current research on organizational behavior and human resources at home and abroad is still very little. When people are exposed to a resource(i.e.external resources and internal resources)scarcity situation,do their choice preferences between time and money change? Based on Life History Theory, the thesis explores the employees' choice preference between time and money when different types of resources are scarce. This paper uses the samples of college students and business employees who are about to enter the workplace, and tests hypotheses through three experiments.Experiment 1 in which external job resources are primed to be scarce, uses a external resource scarcity(resource scarcity vs.not resource scarcity vs.control)one factor between-subjects design, with the choice between time and money as dependent variables.Taking the sample of college students who are about to enter the workplace, when testing the shortage of external employment resources, employees will choose their preference for time and money. This experiment aims to test whether resource scarcity affects employee's choice between monetary reward and time reward.Experiment 2 in which external natural resources are primed to be scarce, uses a external resource scarcity(resource scarcity vs.not resource scarcity vs.control)one factor between-subjects design, with the choice between time and money as dependent variables.Experiment 2 used laboratory samples of employees as samples to examine the preference of employees for choosing time and money incentives when external natural resources were in short supply.Experiment 3 Field experiments based on the sample of employees of the company increase internal resource shortages and examine employee preferences for pay awards when resources are in short supply.Across Experiments 1,2,3,we found that whether the shortage of employment resources or the shortage of broad natural resources will prompt employees to prefer money instead of time awards.Theinternal mechanism is that the psychological representation of people is more specific when resources are scarce, and individuals with high materialistic values are eager to spend more money(Experiment 1 and Experiment 2).However,when the shortage of external environment resources is specific to the choice of money, this choice preference will change when different resources are scarce(Experiment 3).This article examines how the shortage of external environmental resources affects employees' preferences for time and money reward selection through three experiments.Theoretically, this article will explore whether the shortage of external environmental resources will affect employee pay incentive preferences will advance the theory of life history and the existing literature on time and money. In practice, this article provides a theoretical basis and practical guidance for the discussion of when employees prefer monetary rewards,as well as the formulation of the company's compensation system and the improvement of employees' enthusiasm for work.
