Use And Protection Of Wuhan City Place Names

In this paper,based on the theory of sustainable development and organic renewal theory,the current research on the characteristics of names,protection and utilization is summarized,after which,taking the main city of Wuhan for example,on the foundation of large number of documents and electronic information collected and summarized,the characteristics of the categories of city names,the time evolution of the spatial distribution of features are researched.In accordance with the place names category,place names are summarized into three categories:natural names,humanities names and other place names,in which humanities names occupy a larger proportion than natural names and other place names.On this basis,a small category features are studied in three categories:among the natural place names,place names about location and topography have relatively more quantities,place names about plants and animals have the least one;among humanities names,personal names and surnames have the large number while place names named from the large number of water conservancy are quite few;among other place names,Chi maximum synthesis of names mentioned at least,analyze the geographical environment and human environment factors that influence the formation of these names category.According to the time of names named,the formation and development of names were divided into four stages,that is,before the Ming and Qing dynasties(prior to Zhou Yuan Dynasty),Ming and Qing dynasties,the Qing Dynasty to the liberation and after liberation.Analysis reveals that the reason is economic development,the evolution of urbanization and national politics.In terms of spatial distribution,this paper mainly studies the spatial distribution of each category,in details,the density characteristics of the distribution of names in Jianghan District is more intensive than Hongshan District,which can be analyzed from natural and cultural aspects.In addition,this paper focuses on exploring the current state of names in Wuhan City,including the increasingly strengthened main normative,the gradually improved system and the enhanced level of science and technology;points out the problems such as litter protection consciousness,lack of protection of geographical names and taking not careful attitudes towards names change,effective protection and use.Measure the object of names protected by historical,cultural,visibility and normative.For the weak sense of protection,it is proposed to increase conservation awareness and enhance international awareness(consciousness firmly protect the old names;good place name translation,internationalization enhance awareness;mobilize public participation in the protection of geographical names).Measures for the protection of lacking of protection names is to improve the management of names(to play a leading role in the planning of names;implement standardization of geographical names;inherit and carry forward to the cultural place names)countermeasures for change of names,the proposed changes with emphasis on the use of the old names(focusing on the integration of Han Chu,highlighting the use of Chinese cultural characteristics send indiscreet question;cautious revocation,change the old names;re-enable some of the old place names have disappeared and strengthen old signposts set).In terms of the use of names,we believe that we should follow three principles:the principles of sustainable development and respecting for the historical and cultural principles and operational principles;on the value of using,there are three kinds of cultural value,respectively economic value(tourism value,Trademark value,investment value)and scientific value on the value of names.The development approach of cultural value of names includes to make story in depth,get across Chu culture heritage;stress the culture of place name and enhance the effect of publicity;to create cultural brands of names.The development of ideas of the economic value includes developing tourism on place names,tapping the potential of tourism value;registrating trademark for place names;making the place name as an investment environment.There are proposals about mining scientific value,establishing a new thinking of names and developing archival information resources;developing place names information by the use of names file;broadening way of thinking to develop as the Information Center.
