Coastal zone is a significant base of marine and marine economy development;land and resources is an essential material foundation for a regional economic and social development, and It is also the place where people live and the carrier of economic construction.Coastal Land and Resources Exploitation Intensity is a comprehensive reflection of current utilization of coastal zone,a main basis to measure the potential for coastal development, and the foundation of sustainable development research. It is of great importance for the economic society sustainable development of coastal zone to consider each link element of the coastal land and resources exploitation Intensity and explore the future development mode of coastal zone. The author selected 14 cities in the coastal zone of Guangdong Province as the study area, including Chaozhou,Shantou,Jieyang,Shanwei.Huizhou,Shenzhen,Dongguan,Guangzhou,Zhongshan,Zhuhai,Jiangmen,Yangjiang,Maoming and Zhanjiang.Statistical data in the field of natural and social economy were collected in these prefecture-level cities from 2006 to 2013,adopting the methods of Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)and Entropy Method in order to establish the evaluation index system of coastal land and resources exploitation intensity which were to apply to Guangdong coastal zone. And then more study were done according to the results above and the theory of coastal zone development model.Research results show as below:(1)According to the characteristics of land and resources of Guangdong Coastal Zone, around the coastal land and resources development and utilization of various aspects of "exploitation conditions and technical support, exploitation level, exploitation benefit.exploitation effect and Control efforts of Ecological environment",construct the Land and Resources Development and Utilization Evaluation System Strength of Guangdong Coastal Zone.(2)Due to the introduction of the concept of development intensity index, determine the evaluation model, calculated the Evaluation Index of Development and utilization of land and resources intensity of Guangdong Coastal Zone.(3)From 2006 to 2013,the average index of coastal land and resources exploitation intensity of Guangdong Province values from 2006 of 0.9076 rising to 2013 of 1.0683,which was the whole an upward trend, indicating that exploitation intensity of Guangdong coastal land and resources was growing.Geographically speaking, the overall level of development and utilization intensity of Guangdong coastal land and resources was from moderate to high intensity.(4)From the perspective of Guangdong coastal prefecture-level cities, cities like Guangzhou,Shenzhen and Dongguan were always at the top of the list through the years from 2006 to 2013,of which the average index were 1.7342,1.1806 and 1.0792 respectively while Jieyang and Shanwei were at the bottom of the list with the average index of 0.7815 and 0.7631.The rest of the cities were at the level of the middle class. As for development speed of the cities' exploitation,Zhuhai,Zhanjiang,Shenzhen and Jieyang developed the fastest with the increase of 0.2974,0.2832,0.2443 and 0.2355 through the 8 years. In 2006-2013,the exploitation intensity of the coastal zone of central Guangdong was relatively high than that of the east Guangdong and the west Guangdong, showing an unbalanced pattern.Furthermore, the rate of the coastal zone of central Guangdong was higher than the average of the whole province through the eight years ranging between 0.1.72 to 0.1320.Besides,both the exploitation intensity of the west Guangdong and the east Guangdong were lower than the whole province, and the west was higher than the east.(5)Through the 8 years from 2006 to 2013 the hierarchy results of the coastal prefecture-level cities of Guangdong Province show obvious connection with time-space characteristics. In 2006 there was only one city of Guangzhou which was up to the grade of high exploitation intensity, and four cities, including Shenzhen,Dongguan,Zhongshan and Jiangmen were in the middle class, while the others were in the lowest class. However,in 2013,the number of cities with high exploitation intensity rose to 3(Guangzhou,Shenzhen and Dongguan). And the majority of the cities were in the middle class, while Shanwei was the only one in the lowest class. From the aspect of different parts of Guangdong Province, the exploitation of the central coastal land and resources have a relatively high starting point where it ranked the medium degree in 2006 and stepped into the era of high exploitation intensity in 2013.Compared with the central part, the west with a lower starting point, began to step into the era of medium exploitation intensity in 2008,while the east made the promotion from low intensity to medium until 2012.(6)From 2006 to 2013,the coastal prefecture-level cities of Guangdong, concerning the contribution degree of second index,as a whole demonstrated that the subsystem of exploitation conditions and technical support as well as the subsystem of ecological environmental management of coastal zone was the main element of coastal land and resources exploitation intensity.Besides, the subsystem of exploitation level ranked the second, and it was on the rise, indicating that it had an increasing important impact on each city's exploitation intensity of Guangdong.(7)The analysis was done using the software of SPSS and combining these cities'actual development. The future development modes of Guangdong coastal cities are as below:It is appropriate to adopt Megalopolis development mode in Type ? area(Guangzhou and Shenzhen);Core-cluster development mode in Type?(Jiangmen,Maoming and Zhanjiang);and Scattered development mode in Type?(Chaozhou,Shantou,Jieyang,Shanwei,Huizhou,Dongguan,Zhongshan,Zhuhai and Yangjiang).
