Timing generation system is widely used in radar test system.Different radar test systems often have different requirements in timing generation system with output channel numbers,data transfer rate,signal form and so on.But some existing timing generator systems support inconvenient user secondary development in such as insufficient system timing generator output channel numbers,inconvenient on-line parameters configuration,limited extend hardware and software development.This paper is based on a variety of requirments of modern radar test system,according to the actual needs of a research institute under the guidance of modular design,the LCD touch-screen with STM32 processor and programmable logic devices occur technology into the design,developed a multi-channel timing generation system.The main function of the timing generation system is to generate signal output for radar test system under the control of LCD touch screen,the system has 50 channels output signal,includes 20 channels 5V TTL signal,20 channels 3.3V TTL signal and 10 channels 485 differential signal,each signal works independently of each other.The timing generator system design consists of two parts: hardware and software design.Hardware design includes core board and expansion board,the core board is composed of minimum STM32 and FPGA as the core of the system,expansion board is composed of the power section and the isolation section.Software design is divided into upper and lower machine,upper machine is programmable intelligent LCD(PS-LCD: Programmable Smart LCD)touch screen software design,implements parameter setting timing data.Lower machine software design includes two aspects,namely the STM32 processor and its associated programming and FPGA programming.The system testedin laboratory,the result shows the system has achieved the system design function and met the requirements of technical specifications.Firstly,this paper discusses the research background of timing generation system;secondly design of timing generation system is proposed;after that,complete the software and hardware design of timing generation system;finally the function and performance of the system have been fully tested,including the LCD touch-screen settings,serial data communication testing,FPGA test and joint testing of the entire system.The test results show that the system design has achieved desired objectives.There are 70 figures,7 tables and 55 references in this paper.
