Spectral induced polarization is a very common method in when searching for metal mineral deposits in geophysical prospecting. This method mainly takes the advantages of the significant polarization effects of metal deposit. Traditional spectral induced polarization method measuring the frequency points step by step, this will cost a lot of time and ends with a low efficiency. Correlation identification technology is a technology that combine the anti-noise performance of pseudo random m sequence and system identification method together, it has a strong ability to suppress noises and can get several frequency points at one time. Correlation identification technology has a higher efficiency and lower costs. By programing, the correlation identification technology can be realized by computer language. The program can calculate the transfer function, complex resistivity spectrum, apparent resistivity, induced polarization and several other parameters of an underground medium. It will help a lot for later data analysis.In order to put the correlation identification program into practice and test the effect of the program, we need the develop a prospecting instrument which will act as the testing platform of the program. Considering that there are lots of mathematical calculations in the program such as FFT, IFFT, etc., A DSP chip is chosen as the testing platform for the program. In addition, An STM32 chip and a FPGA chip is chosen to finish the work of the instrument as well.Based on this theory, the author designed a prospecting instrument based on STM32 and DSP+FPGA and designed a tangible graphical interface, the humancomputer interaction is very convenient. We also applied three patents for the instrument.The main content of this paper includes three aspects:(1) The background significance of the topic and the research status at home and abroad: This part mainly introduces the background of the subject.(2) Instrument design: This is the most important part of the paper. A very detailed introduction is given on the principles and architecture of the instrument, the hardware and software design, etc.(3) Instrument test: This part introduces the testing and R&D results of the instrument and gives out the electrical parameters.
