Mineralization Characteristics And Ore-prospecting Direction Of Diatomite In Changbai Area Of Jilin Province

The Changbai area is a famous high quality diatomite producing area in both Jilin province and whole country.It has a very large ore-prospecting potential.There is a long history of diatomite exploration in the this area,but the researches on basic geological conditions is very limited and not comprehensive.Based on collecting and analysis of related data of the typical diatomite deposits in Changbai area,in this paper,characteristics of ore bodies and ore,surrounding rock,ore grade and diatom type of the six typical deposits have been studied,such as Hudonggou,Sifenchang,Cuocaodingzi,Jinchang,Qiangangtou and Dongshan.Geological settings,ore-forming geological conditions,characteristics of diatomite deposits ore-prospecting direction have been studied.Moreover,the ore-prospecting indicators and occurrence regularity of diatomite deposit in Changbai region have been sumarized.The diatomite deposits in Changbai area formed in Neogene period of Miocene epoch,and belong to the sedimentary type related to basaltic rocks.The ancient basin and paleoenvironment have important significance for the formation of diatomaceous earth.Studies on Sifenchang diatomite deposit show that the diatomite is under the original thought of the basin,and there are second exploration spaces.It shows that there are other basins with diatomite forming conditions outside the "Ma'anshan to Cuocaodingzi" or before the basin,and there are the possibility of "large basin set small basin" and "basin lower basin".These prove that the Changbai area has great ore-prospecting potential.In recent years,some diatomite deposits or ore spots have been found in Dunhua,Mei River,Jingyu,Fusong,Huadian,Hunchun,Antu,Jiaohe and Yongji,and their qualities and occurrence characteristics are obviously different from that in the Changbai region.Taking Dongshan diatomite deposit as one example,this paper analyzes the similarities and differences in the mineralization characteristics between Dongshan deposits and those in Changbai region,and summarizes the prospecting regularity,which is every significant for ore-prospecting in these region.
