The ability to focus on classroom important events and explain the occurrence of these events in classroom observation is an important indicator of the professional competence of teachers.In order to find an effective way to develop mathematics teachers' ability to focus on the classroom,the author conducted an teaching experimental and investigated the following two research questions:(1)what is the current situation of prospective mathematics teachers'ability.to noticing of classroom events?(2)Can micro-teaching improve prospective mathematics teachers' ability to noticing of classroom events?The participants of this study consists of 18 prospective mathematics teachers(4 males and 14 females)in junior year of their college life in the central region of China.The researchers organized participants to conduct two video observations and questionnaire surveys before and after the micro-teaching.During the experiment,a four-week micro-teaching training was conducted.The study found that most prospective mathematics teachers pay attention to the teacher's teaching behavior when they observe the teaching video,and pay less attention to the learning,curriculum,and the culture.Prospective mathematics teachers' ability to noticing of classroom events is still relatively weak,and many important classroom events cannot be noticed.This is because of prospective mathematics teachers are still in the pre-teaching stage of attention.They have not yet experienced the teaching role and have nothing teaching experience,so they only pay attention to themselves.Therefore,in the course of observing classroom teaching,they pay more attention to their own role-"teacher" behavior,while ignoring the attention to other factors in the classroom.After micro-teaching training,prospective mathematics teachers in the four aspects of instruction,learning,curriculum and culture have a certain degree of improvement in their ability to noticing of classroom events.The most noticeable improvement is in the nature of student learning and the nature of the curriculum.The numbers of noticing of both the students leaning and curriculum nature increased 50%compared to the beginning stage of the experiment.It is concluded that micro-teaching training can effectively improve prospective mathematics teacher's noticing of classroom events.
