Compared with the traditional optical properties of light: intensity,frequency and phase,the polarization of light is very sensitive to the changes in microstructure,including plenty of structural information of the sample,hence the polarization greatly expands the sample information dimension.Polarization measurement has advantages non-invasive,low damage as the traditional optical method.The polarization measurement systems and the traditional optical systems have very strong compatibility.One needs only adding polarizing device in the original optical system to achieve polarization measurement.Polarization measurements have more and more applications in the field of navigation,ocean monitoring,target recognition and biomedical detection.Polarization measurements include full polarization,such as Mueller matrix,and partial polarization,such as linear polarization full polarization measurements are more complex and need to measure more polarization components.In this paper,we mainly study the design and application of linearly polarized light imaging system and carried out experiments showing the potential application in target recognitions.In this paper,based on the previous researches,we two linear polarization detection devices using a civilian color camera and a rotating polarizer or push-pull orthogonal polarizers detection schemes different linear polarization images corresponding to the R,G,B color channels are obtained simultaneously.The rotary linearly polarized imaging device combined with the grazing incidence method was applied to the footprint detection,which achieved effectively suppression of the interference from the background reflected light and significant improvement in the image quality of the footprint.Monte Carlo simulations are applied to further verify the feasibility of the method.A commercial polarization imaging device,Polarcam polarized camera,is used to detect many dynamic objects and applied in the microscopic imaging system to realize the dynamic polarization detections.The design and application of linearly polarized light imaging systems are of great importance for thesubsequent application of polarization detection.It is found that the difference between two averaging methods linear in polarization imaging is proportional to the variance of the polarization angle.
