The introduction of radiation polarization information, and can provide more comprehensive information to characterize the target, Based on the stokes vector detection principle, a polarization imaging system which based on three-camera is researched and designed, and use the system to obtain polarization information of the target area. One typical application of polarization technology is defogging. As the fog and haze, the absorption and scattering of atmospheric, so that levels of visibility is significantly lower, the quality of the images which obtained by image system are serious decline. The main task of defogging is to remove the effect of fog and other weather factors on image quality, and achieve the purpose of enhancing the visual effect. Based on the design and implementation of a polarization imaging system, the use of polarization information to achieve defogging with different foggy environments, the main contents are as follows:(1) On the basis of the basic polarization theory and stokes vector detection principle, the design and implementation of a polarization imaging system based on three-camera, is used to obtain information about the target radiation of different analyzer angles, completed its hardware and software design; Against the impact of inherent optical inconsistency and distortion of camera lens for imaging, complete the appropriate calibration, calibration and functional test to ensure the system to obtain information on the reliability and accuracy of polarization;(2) Improve existing defogging method based on a rough estimate of the polarization, correction the model of atmospheric scattering under non-uniform lighting conditions, estimate ambient light value based on light channel priori and estimate the polarization degree of ambient light based on the filtering, optimized estimation method, enhance the effects of defogging based on polarization information;(3) Through experiments and analysis, optimized estimation method is better than the rough estimate polarization method and dark channels method under mist and fog conditions, when the two methods failed under heavy fog, the optimization method still have some effects.
