Schlick's Logical Reconstruction Of Cognition

Moritz Schlick is the founder of the Vienna Circle and 1925 can be a dividing line between the two stages of his early and later periods of his philosophical theory.This thesis,which is based on Schlick's representative work the General Theory of Knowledge,mainly studies the methods and significance of Schlick's logical reconstruction of cognition.The whole thesis includes two parts:introduction and text.The introduction describes the research status of Schlick's major works the General Theory of knowledge and the cognitive problem at home and abroad as well as the basic thinking and ideas of the thesis.The text is divided into three chapters.In the first chapter,the background of logical reconstruction of cognition,the relationship between philosophy and science which has changed by the development of modern science,Schlick's understanding of the essence of knowledge,namely knowledge is a different expression with the same logical form,which is inspired by modern logic are all introduced.Since traditional cognitive method can't acquire knowledge,Schlick must construct the conceptual system to acquire knowledge in the method of logical reconstruction of cognition.The second chapter studies the method of logical reconstruction of cognition and introduces the construction of concepts and judgments as well as requirements of truth.The third chapter introduces the significance of Schlick logical reconstruction of cognition.Schlick's logical reconstruction of cognition embodies scientism and his conceptual system eliminates the distinction between natural science and mental science,which also lays a foundation for the construction of a unified scientific program.
