Geological data has strong spatial characteristics,and 3D visualization can express it better,which is of great significance for the study of geology.Geological data is mainly derived from the collection of geological field staff,so providing convenient 3D mobile tool for them plays a role in promoting.While there are only a few 3D geological related research on mobile,this paper focuses on the visualization of the 3D geological data,including the visualization of geological body and geological symbols.Considering the limited storage and computing resources on the mobile terminal,the studies observe the principle of improving the visualization efficiency and reducing the storage.The study of 3D visualization of geological body mainly contains data model,topological structure,model simplification and multi-resolution LOD.3D visualization of geological symbols includes the design and modelling of point,line and surface symbols.The mobile visualization prototype system is built on Android platform and realizing basic visualization of geological body.The main innovation of the article lies in:Proposing a solution to determine the degree of scene refinement by layering during the implementation of multi-resolution LOD;Proposing a method of automatic 3D modelling based on geological 2D vector point symbol and verifying it on desktop platform,which shows that this method can utilize the resource of 2D symbol library effectively and reduce modelling work;Primitively realizing the prototype system of 3D geological visualization on Android platform.
