Under the condition of phase mismatching,it could generate nonlinear phase shift based on polarization coupling cascading. This paper introduced the manipulation of light about its amplitude, phase and polarization by polarization-coupling theory based on electro-optic effect of periodically poled lithium niobate(PPLN)crystal. We analyzed the influence about refractive index ellipsoid under the electro-optic effect by Jones matrix method and polarization-coupling theory. All these can lead to a new type of Solc filter, which is modulated by electro-optic effect based on PPLN crystal. In addition,we analyzed the characteristics of the filter under different conditions. We introduced the phenomenon of "polarization-coupling(PC)cascading" effect, which is analogy to the second harmonic generation cascading. And we demonstrated the large phase shift in the PC cascading by the experiment using Newton's rings. We investigated the methods for controlling the intensity and phase of a light via another light in periodically poled MgO-doped lithium niobate(PPMgLN)crystal with an applied transverse external electric field based on PC cascading. These methods could realize the modulation of intensity and phase in weak-light region. These results can find potential applications in future all-optical information process and optical communications. We investigated the polarization instability observed in PPLN,which revealed that tiny changes of the exterior condition will have remarkable effects on the polarization states of the output light. The instability shown here has a new different physical mechanism from that in the fiber of weakly dispersive.Such in-chip chaos system is likely to promote an integrated chaos devices behaving as bio-sensor,switch and filter with high sensitivity and resolution.
