Advanced materials like functional ceramics,ceramic matrix composites and optical crystals play an increasingly important role in aerospace,automobile,biomedicine,electronics and other fields.As the application of these advanced materials become more extensive,the processing problems have become particularly prominent.Rotary ultrasonic machining(RUM),as a kind of precision and effective nontraditional machining technologies,becomes one of the most effective processing methods of advanced materials,which attracts more attention from researchers.Conventional rotary ultrasonic machining equipment are mainly designed for surface processing,which cannot be used in deep cavity processing.What's more,power supply for the high-speed rotating ultrasonic transducer also has technical problems.Sliding contacts devices are likely to cause wear,fever,carbon deposition,sparks,etc.while conventional rotary transformers raise the operational accuracy requirements to tools replacement in rotary ultrasonic machining.In order to solve the problem above,following aspects were studied in this paper:1)Super-long rotary ultrasonic machining spindle was proposed.The ultrasonic vibration system was designed.Modal analysis and harmonious response analysis were done to analysis the vibration performance.2)Based on the principle of electromagnetic induction,a novel rotary transformer with easy disassembly is designed for RUM.The effect of the primary core angle and air gap length on coupling coefficient was studied.Both simulation and experiment were carried out to test the transmission capability of this rotary transformer.3)Designed and built a test platform,the performance of the contactless energy transmission system was tested.The output amplitude of the ultrasonic vibration system vibration was measured.
