Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR)technology is an ultra-wideband technology used primarily to detect and identify subsurface targets. In recent years, scholars are always trying to research ultra-wideband theory and technology.its application field is constantly expanding, and it is more and more well-known.At present, the ground penetrating radar system works in a wide frequency range, which can be used in several tens of MHz scenarios or several GHz.Different Gaussian pulse signals with ultra-wideband characteristics are usually used as the excitation source based on different operating frequency ranges and detection depth.Ground-penetrating radar antennas, which are part of the ground-penetrating radar system, also need to have better ultra-wideband characteristics in order to work more synergistically with other parts of the system. This ultra-wideband characteristic is mainly characterized by strong main directivity in the working frequency range with low side lobes, and its gain value needs to be high and stable. In addition,it recieved waveform also requires low dispersion, less tailing, and high fidelity to the waveform. In view of these circumstances, the author designed two antennas below based on a large number of documents. The ground penetrating radar antenna is generally a broadband symmetrical antenna, and the performance of the antenna affects the detection result of the GPR system directly. The center frequency of the antenna is related to the center frequency of the wideband signal. The article combines the spectrum of the feed signal to design two antennas operating in the 0.75 GHZ-2 GHz and 0.5 GHz-3.5 GHz bands, respectively. The first antenna has a relative bandwidth of 90%,achieving a compact structure of 2 mm*2 mm*3 mm,and providing a radiation waveform with small dispersion, slight distortion, and small tailing signal. Then, based on a large number of documents,a butterfly antenna that is often used as a ground penetrating radar antenna,so as a prototype, and a butterfly slot antenna complementary to the butterfly antenna is derived. Then it is used as the research object, and the planar structure is optimized to the three-dimensional structure for modeling and optimization, which can provide good orientation and strong main direction.By increasing the reflector to increase the gain over the entire operating band and suppressing the gain dips at certain frequencies, the gain is 5-10 db.It also loads the resistor and adds a short slit design to optimize the analysis of the antenna in the time domain to show good performance. Finally, the two antennas designed were tested and analyzed, and their characteristic parameters were analyzed, showing good performance.
