It is of great strategic significance to study the distribution of oil and gas resources in the countries and regions along the “Silk Road of the sea in twenty-first Century”,especially in the South China Sea-North India ocean area.It is also an important research content under the initiative framework of the "The Belt and Road”.There exists a large number of sedimentary basins in the South China Sea-North India ocean area,and a huge amount of spatial data related to these basins have been accumulated.Mass spatial data,various data type and complex data structure bring great inconvenience to the researchers for their management and analysis.Efficient organization and management of these data make it easier to retrieve and visualize,and thus is of great significance to understand the characteristics of petroleum geology in the South China Sea-North India ocean area and to adjust the development strategy of oil and gas exploration and development.Geographic Information System(GIS)provides powerful functions of spatial data collection,storage,management and analysis.Therefore,it is an ideal platform for spatial data integration,management and analysis.It provides good technical conditions for solving above mentioned problems.The research content of the thesis is supported by the project "twenty-first Century maritime silk road petroleum geology study and resource potential evaluation".Firstly,various spatial data related to the sedimentary basins in the South China Sea-North India ocean area have been collected according to the requirements of the project,then these basins are classified into different types.Subsequently,the spatial database of the sedimentary basins is constructed according to the practical application;On this basis,the ArcGIS platform is used to manage and analyze the data of the basin;Finally,based on ArcGIS Engine technology,using C# development language,C/S development framework and Visual Studio 2012 as platform,a spatial database system is designed and developed for the management of spatial data of sedimentary basins in the South China Sea-North India ocean area.The system includes various functions,such as map management,layer management,data management,thematic map making,and system management and so on.The interface of the system is user-friendly and easy to operate.Moreover,the system is convenient to extend,which is important for the subsequent research of the project.The developed system provides a convenient approach for the project researchers to data retrieval and visualization.
