In earth climate simulation and weather forecasting studies,radiation transmission calculation is an indispensable research problem.By calculating the long and short wave radiation of emitting,absorbing and reflecting between the sun and the earth,the changes in the earth’s climate and weather can be simulated.The physical process of radiation transmission is complex with large data and high density of calculation.Therefore,ordinary processors are basically unable to process such a large amount of radiation data quickly,which is not conducive to the simulation of the earth’s climate and the prediction of weather forecasts.In order to solve the above problems,we need to study the parallel algorithm of radiation transmission.Considering the high computing performance of GPU,this paper mainly studies the RRTMG short wave radiation physical process and its acceleration algorithm based on GPU.This paper implements the acceleration algorithm by using CUDA programming model.The main research contents of this paper are as follows:(1)This paper proposes acceleration algorithm for RRTMG short wave radiation physical process based on GPU,and implements the heterogeneous computing version of RRTMG short-wave radiation based on CUDA Fortran.In the GPU acceleration of RRTMG short-wave radiation,the subroutine with the longest computing time,rrtmg_sw,is paralleled by redesigning the program struct and data layout to implement the parallel algorithm of rrtmg_sw so as to improve the computing performance of RRTMG shortwave radiation.(2)The heterogeneous calculation version of RRTMG short wave radiation is applied to CAS-ESM model of Chinese academy of sciences,which improves the computing performance of CAS-ESM.In conclusion,this paper studies RRTMG short wave radiation acceleration algorithm based on GPU and shortened the calculation time of RRTMG short wave radiation physical process.That improves the computing performance of CAS-ESM,and provides theoretical basis and technical support for the practical application of CAS-ESM.
