| Ancient Greek science, which created the miracle of ancient science, declined for a long time after centuries of development and prosperity.Ancient Greek science not only provided the theoretical basis for the emergence of modern science, but more importantly, the influence of ancient Greek scientific spirit on later generations has been extended to this day. This has forced us to think and reflect on why ancient Greek science, which once created valuable rational scientific spirit and great scientific and technological achievements, did not continue to develop and progress after a short period of high prosperity. This article traces the origin of this question, and from the perspective of historical development, attempts to analyze the various factors affecting the scientific development process of ancient Greece and the important reasons for its decline.Firstly,in the first chapter, this paper expounds the purpose and significance of the research, the research methods and perspectives used, and the main contents and innovations of the research.Through a detailed review of historical documents, this paper gives a more complete description of the whole process of ancient Greek science from generation to development to decline.Starting from the second chapter, the paper focuses on the political environment, the birth of religion, individuals and scientific organizations and other major aspects of the important impact and role of scientific development. In the second chapter of the thesis, through the comparative analysis of the democratic city-state system in the classical Greek period and the imperialist system in the Roman period,it is found that the democratic city-state system provides a good political foundation for the birth and development of ancient Greek science,at the same time,it creates a loose and free academic environment for scholars and promotes the development of ancient Greek science. However, the imperial autocratic system in Roman period forced scholars to lose their free and relaxed research environment and conditions, thus to a great extent, restricting the development of ancient Greek science. The third chapter of the thesis, taking the emergence and rise of Christianity as the background, analyzes the destructive influence of Christianity on the scientific cause at the beginning of its emergence, which is an important factor causing the development of Greek science to be severely hit.The fourth chapter focuses on the role and key role played by early Greek philosophers, scientists and academic communities in the development process of ancient Greek science. It is found that outstanding figures in a specific period and in a specific social position will make them make wrong research conclusions and achievements, thus forming wrong scientific development direction. The common academic experience in the development of science shrinks and dies due to the change of social environment, which are all important reasons for accelerating the decline of ancient Greek science. Finally,in chapter five, the thesis explains the enlightenment and modern reflection brought by the decline of ancient Greek science, and draws a conclusion: since the birth of science,Greek rational scientific spirit has been the source power of scientific development;the development of technology needs to rely closely on scientific theories. For contemporary China,on the basis of carrying forward the rational scientific spirit of Greece,we should reconstruct a new atmosphere of scientific development with Chinese characteristics based on the local national spirit. |
