Guangzhou Haizhu National Wetland Park Phase ? Waterbird Habitat Retroration Design Research

The term“water bird”is used to refer to birds that live on or around water.The Pearl River Delta region is on the internationally important migratory birds flight route.At present,the construction of the water-bird ecological corridor in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(GBA)has been proposed.Guangzhou Haizhu National Wetland Park is located in Haizhu District of Guangzhou.It is famous for both its originally agricultural landscape characteristic and water bird habitat.The future development model and transformation direction of the second phase of the park have become an urgent problem.How to use ecological surveys and research methods to understand the wetland environment and interpret water bird habitats? How to realize the spatial characteristics of water bird habitat in the base of fruit forest landscape? How to balance the dual needs of civic activities and water bird habitat? These questions are worthy of further discussions when constructing water bird habitat in wetland parks.This study focuses on the research methods and reconstruction design strategies for water bird habitats in Guangzhou Haizhu National Wetland Park Phase II.Through the interdisciplinary research of ecology and landscape architecture,this study can promote to other water bird habitat design in wetland parks in the GBA and other areas.First,by combing the general steps and restoration methods of bird habitat construction,the study sorts out the steps and methods of Haizhu Wetland Phase II waterbird habitat restoration.By studying four cases,the research summarizes three aspects of methods,including park planning,habitat design and bird watching facility design.Secondly,the research summarizes the background of waterbird corridor construction planning and wetland park construction planning in the GBA,and sort out the distribution of wetlands and migratory birds in the area.The research summarizes the function of Haizhu Wetland Park and the current status of waterbird habitat construction by field surveys,so as to clarify the park's positioning in waterbird protection and public education,as well as the function and role of the site.Third,the study investigates the hydrology,vegetation,basement,and human disturbance in the site,as well as the types,distribution,and habitat selection of waterbirds.The studyummarizes the current habitat types and waterbird habitat usage.Then,the study sorts out the waterbird species composition in Haizhu Wetland,summarizes their habitat needs according to ecological groups and clarifies the goals.The study compares the status situation with the target,determine the target bird species,and conduct a vacancy analysis to propose the restoration strategies.Fourth,based on the above analysis results,the research proposes specific plans for the wetland second-phase waterbird habitat restoration from the three aspects of positioning and park planning,habitat design and bird watching facilities design.Finally,this practice study is extended to the general wetland park waterbird habitat restoration in the GBA and summarizes into seven steps.
