Kinds of intestinal microbes play an important role in health and disease of human host. Many studies reported that the increase and decrease of certain microbes might alleviate certain diseases.Although the mechanism researches concerning how changes in microbes relieve human diseases are not many, these intrinsic studies are very valued.Collecting these known information would help us understand how gut microbes affect human disease comprehensively. So,we constructed an online database named GMAHD(the database of how Gut Microbes Affect Human Diseases)to store these invaluable mechanism information. So far, there are total 121 items referring to 83 gut microbes and 34 diseases, and users can download all the information freely via http://cefg.uestc.cn/gmahd without register.Gut microbes are able to synthesize various metabolites which are potential drugs, thus we added the information of microbial metabolites to GMAHD.Then we first analyzed disease association based on microbial metabolites, and finally total 39 diseases which also combine the information in HMDAD(http://www.cuilab.cn/hmdad)were included, and all these information were downloaded from online researches. In total diseases information, there include 96 microbes, and we used the microbial metabolites information in Magnusdotti et al's VMH(Virtual Metabolic Human.https://www.vmh.life/)database which included 773 genome-scale metabolic reconstructions of human gut microbes because most of the microbes fail to be cultured in vitro. We quantified the relationship between human disease and microbes and constructed diseases association which can be verified by other diseases association based on other factors such as symptoms. In addition,we made cluster analysis of disease based on relationship between disease and metabolites, and the disease which can be clustered into same class means that they might share the same pathogenesis and treatment. In short,by disease association analysis we suggested that the study of microbial metabolites will help us understand human diseases deeply and formed new point of developing conventional drugs in new use. After demonstrating the important role of gut microbial metabolites in human disease,we proposed a simple theoretical method to discover potential drugs(beneficial microbial metabolites)among numerous metabolites and verified them by knownliterature.Besides,we compare this result with the result in the above disease association analysis. While the result is lack of experimental verification due to time and other reasons, more data and wet experiment are needed to verify our method in the future.
