With the development of modern virtual reality technology,the perception properties of different perception channels of are constantly exploited and utilized.By using the perception properties of visual-haptic interaction and changing the visual information in virtual interactive environment,the texture rendering effect can be enhanced without requiring improving the accuracy of hardware devices,so as to improve the subjective perception results of subjects.In this paper,discrimination ability of texture roughness was taken as the research object under single haptic channel,single visual channel and visual-haptic interaction mode.Based on the Signal Detection Theory(SDT)method in psychophysics,experiments were carried out to measure human's discrimination different perceptual mode.The perception properties between texture objective attributes(texture spatial period,texture height,dotting size)and texture roughness discrimination ability under different perception modes were studied.The significant influence of texture objective attributes on subjective perception results was analyzed by ANOVA variance analysis,and the interaction between objective attributes was analyzed by Multi-Dimensional Scale method(MDS).Based on the experimental results of visual-haptic interaction mode,a perception model was established by using objective texture attributes as input and discriminant index as output in signal detection theory,and experiment was designed to verify the validity of the model.The experimental results showed that:(1)Under the same magnitude of texture objective parameter level,discrimination ability of texture roughness decreased with the increase of texture objective parameters.But the discrimination ablitity under the visual-haptic interaction channel was significantly higher than that under single channel.(2)Compared with the single haptic channel,the coupling of different texture objective attributes on the perceptual results were enhanced in the visualhaptic mode;Compared with the single visual channel,the coupling of texture height and texture dotting size on perception results was weakened,and the coupling effect of texture spatial period and dotting size was enhanced.Compared with the previous perception model,the effect of the interaction between objective attributes of visual and haptic texture on perception results was described more accurately by the BP neural network model proposed in this paper.It has certain guiding significance for the application of object roughness perception and discrimination enhancement in static virtual textures and dynamic interactive scenes.Using BP neural network model to adjust the visual information of virtual texture under visual-haptic interaction,accuracy of texture discrimination was higher,and the consistency of perception results was better.
