A series of photosensitive multifunctional monomers containing azobenzene moieties have been designed and synthesized,after which azobenzene-functional polymers were obtained by reaction with the above monomers.We synthesized 4,4'-dihydroxy-azobenzene?ABP?,4-hydroxyhexyloxy azobenzen-e?H6AAB?and 4,4'-6-hydroxyhexyloxy azobenzene?ABDH6?which hydroxy as azo basic unit.The structure and photoisomerization of the monomers were characteriz-ed by infrared spectroscopy?IR?,nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy?1H-NM R?,differential scanning calorimetry?DSC?and UV-visible spectrum?UV-Vis?.The next part of the works focus on the thermal performance and the photoresponsive of acrylic azobenzene-functional polymers.First we composed diacrylic azobenzene crosslinking monomers,4,4'-bis-acrylate-yl-azobenzene?ABME?,4-acrylic ester-yl hexyloxy azobenzene?A6AAB?and 4,4'-bis-[?acrylic-n-ester-yl?-n-alkoxy]azobenzene?ABDMEn?.Structures and properties of monomers were characterized by IR,1HNMR,DSC and UV-Vis.We then synthesized a series of photoresponsive PS?O-PS,OA6-PS and OD6-PS?containing different content of monomers by solution polymerization.IR and1H-NMR were used for structural analysis,DSC and TGA were utilized in thermal analysis,and UV-Vis was used for photo response properties of such polymers.Experiments shows that the O-PS,OA6-PS and OD6-PS samples so obtained can be dissolved in common organic solvents such as THF,thus proving that it possesses a linear structure.Experiments on examining its thermal properties shows that the Tg values and the initial decomposition temperature of these polymers increased with the rising of the azobenzene concentration.Results from UV-Vis experiments shows that isomerization of such polymer solution could be initiated by both light and heating.In the third part,we obtained the 4,4'-the diglycidyl ether azobenzene?ABDE?and4-phenylazophenylglycidylether?ABE?byepoxidation,azobenzeneamino compounds?ABDEA?and water-soluble azobenzene.PEG?PEGA,PEGD?was obtained by trimethylethylenediamine and methoxypolyethylene glycol amine reacting with ABE and ABDE.Then fluorescent polystyrene microspheres containing fluorescence azobenzene complexes?ABDEZ?which was obtained by ABDEA and ZnCl2 was synthesized by in situ dispersion polymerization.structures,fluorescence properties and photoisomerization phenomenon of all monomers and polymers were characterized by IR,1H-NMR,1H-NMR,fluorescence spectrophotometer and SEM.ABDEA,ABDEZ,PEGA,PEGD and the azobenzene microspheres were not reported in previous literatures.
