Energy crisis and environmental problems has been hindering the development of countries,and hence,seeking for new energy is becoming increasingly significant.Biomass energy set foot on the world's energy stage on account of its abundant sources and being environmentally friendly and sustainable.The easiest and most direct utilization of biomass energy is to make biomass molding fuel,but the sources of the raw material are not concentrated and the cost for transportation is high.The technology,based on the torrefaction,can greatly resolve the problems of raw material storage and transportation,and at the same time facilitate the energy density of solid fuel.Torrefacted charcoal of Moso bamboo in different years and from different parts of a whole bamboo was utilized.The objective of this paper is to provide theory basis,using response surface methodology to make sure the most appreciate technology in the molding process and using cone calorimeter to study the combustion properties of the molding fuel.The main contents and conclusions are as follows:?1?With the growing year,the moisture content,ash and volatile decreased,the fixed carbon increased,the C content increased,the O content decreased,the density,the calorific value,and the yield increased,and the abrasiveness decreased;with the lower positon of the whole bamboo,the moisture content and the volatile increased,the ash and fixed carbon increased,the C content increased,the O content decreased,the density,the calorific value and the yield increased,and the abrasiveness decreased.Judging from the scalar product of the calorific value and the yield of the torrefied charcoal,the best raw material is the lower part at the year of 6.?2?The respective influences of adhesive addition,moisture content of the raw material,and crushing granularity on the quality of the molding fuel were all studied.With increase in adhesive addition,the calorific value,density and anti-compression ability increased,while the crushing ratio and water permeability decreased.With increase in the moisture content,the calorific value,density,and anti-compression ability first increased and then decreased,and the maximum values were achieved at the moisture content of 10%,while the crushing ratio first decreased and then increased,the minimum value of which was achieved at the moisture content of 10%,and the water permeability declined.When particle size increased,the calorific value slightly went down,density and anti-compression ability decreased,and crushing ratio and water permeability increased.?3?The response surface methodology of molding technology to torrefy Moso bamboo to get charcoal was analyzed via software.Regardless of other factors,when the maximum calorific value of the molding fuel was 29.189MJ/kg,and the optimum conditions were 46%adhesive addition,8%moisture content,and 0.30.5mm crushing granularity.When the maximum density was 1.113g/cm,the optimum conditions were 46%adhesive addition,8.41%moisture content,and 0.30.5mm crushing granularity.At the minimum crushing ratio of 3.703%,the optimum conditions were 46%adhesive addition,9.75%moisture content,and 0.30.5mm crushing granularity.When the maximum anti-compression ability was 34.644N/cm,the optimum conditions were 46%adhesive addition,9.60%moisture content,and 0.30.5mm crushing granularity.At the minimum water permeability was 0.678%,the optimum conditions were 46%adhesive addition,12%moisture content,and 0.30.5mm crushing granularity.Taking into consideration response values above 5 and the production status,the optimum molding technology to torrefy Moso bamboo to get charcoal was 46%adhesive addition,10%moisture content,and 0.30.5mm crushing granularity.?4?From the IR spectrogram,in the process of bamboo torrefying,cellulose decomposed,lignin content barely changed.Comparing the substances above 3,there were not chemical bond breaking and rebuilding in the torrefying process,but they bond together by intermolecular forces.From the micrograph,the surface of the charcoal particles was rough and had no absorbent.Bamboo tar was a viscous liquid.Comparing the substances above 3,the molding of charcoal was by cementing action of bamboo tar.?5?Torrefied charcoal molding fuel from Moso bamboo was combusted in cone calorimeter in the condition of different radiative heat flux.With increase in radiative heat flux,the time to ignition of the fuel was shortened.The reciprocal of root-mean-square of the time to ignition and radiative heat flux were in liner relationship.When the radiative heat flux increased,the average heat release rate,the peak value of the heat release rate and the total heat release all increased.When the smoke release rate and smoke production increased,CO production decreased,while CO2 increased,and the average mass loss and average mass loss rate both increased.
