The formation of heteroaryl-sulfur bonds and heteroaryl-oxygen bonds have emerged as a powerful means for the synthesis of many molecules that are of biological, pharmaceutical, and materials interest. In this paper, recent advances were reviewed respectively in the synthetic methods for the heteroaryl-sulfur and heteroaryl-oxygen compounds, then it was discussed the study of their synthetic methods. The first part reviewed recent advances in the synthetic methods for heteroaryl ether. The second part studied the transition metal-free C-O cross-coupling reaction of heteroaryl chlorides with alcohols and phenols. The third part reviewed recent advances in the synthetic methods for heteroaryl sulfur ether. The fourth part studied the transition metal-free TBAF catalyzed SNAr reaction of heteroaryl halides with hrimethyl(phenylthio)silane. The fifth part studied the the transition metal-free C-S cross-coupling reaction of heteroaryl chlorides with diphenyl sulfide. The above study synthetic methods of heteroaryl-sulfur and heteroaryl-oxygen compounds enjoy many advantages, such as simple, raw materials readily available,metal-free,high yields. Moreover, this synthetic methods reduce the pollution to the environment, which was fit to the development direction of green chemistry.
