The photonic crystals have band gap structures,and they can inhibit the specific wavelength light propagation.In theory,the color therefore can be obtained by designing the certain photonic crystals.It means a certain thickness of the photonic crystals can produce noticeable color and the color can be achieved by controlling the photonic crystals structural parameters.Transfer matrix method and plane wave method were used in this dissertation.The model of reflectivity of one-dimensional photonic crystals was set up and analyzed by Matlab,where the relationship among the reflectivity and wavelength of light,number of layers and layer thickness were discussed.The result was that photonic crystals can form photonic band gap.When the number of layers increased,the gap became abruptly.But the number of layer didn't change the width and position of the photonic band gap.Under the same wavelength,the reflectivity of one dimensional photonic crystals increased as the number of layer increased.The reflectivity of fabric treated by one dimensional photonic crystals model was deduced based on the above model.And the color of one-dimensional photonic crystals was also deduced by combining with colorimetry theory.The reflectivity and color of one-dimensional photonic crystals was analyzed by Matlab.The result showed that the reflectivity increased as the number of layers increased and then the color would change,which is very useful for further reseach on photonic crystals treated on textileThe sol-gel technology was used to prepare the photonic crystals on the PET film,combined with the spin-coating technology and the film coater.The results showed that the reflectivity and the color of one-dimensional photonic crystals coated on PET were influenced by the thickness,the number of layers and pH value.The reflectivity of one-dimensional photonic crystals increased when the photonic crystals layer numbers and thickness increased.Under different background,the color of one-dimensional photonic crystals appeared different.Finally,the sol-gel technology was combined with the spin-coating technology and the infiltration method to explore the photonic crystals on the fabric.The experiments showed that the color of the fabric was not obvious,but in theory the color should change based on the spectrum.From the SEM pictures,it can be found the photonic crystals coated on fabric was not smooth.and the crack impacted the color of the photonic crystals coated on the fabric.
